[11-27-07 – Satellite Today] L-3 Communications subsidiary Telemetry-West has provided licenses for its InControl software to Cornell University’s CUSat nanosatelite program, Telemetry-West announced Nov. 27.
The InControl software is designed to support satellite test and on-orbit operations and will provide the testing for CUSat assembly, integration and test as well as perform on-orbit operations.
CUSat is a multi-year effort to design, build and launch an autonomous in-orbit inspection satellite system to demonstrate how one spacecraft can diagnose the structural health and configuration of another. A pair of identical satellites will be launched, separate in orbit. One satellite will capture imagery of the other and send these images to a ground station where a 3-D model representation of each craft will be constructed.
CUSat has been awarded a no-cost launch by NASA, which is scheduled for October 2009.
