[10-23-07 – Satellite Today] Verizon Business has signed an agreement with Thrane & Thrane to deliver portable satellite service to enterprise customers, Verizon announced Oct. 23.

The new service, Verizon Global Broadband Satellite Access, Powered by Thrane & Thrane, will be immediately available to U.S. customers. A Thrane & Thrane Explorer terminal will connect to a broadband global area network, leveraging geostationary satellites that extend an enterprise’s mobile and portable voice and data connectivity beyond the reach of traditional wireless and terrestrial networks.

Verizon is marketing the service to industries such as energy, finance, transportation, health care, manufacturing, mining, retail and the public sector, including emergency first responders.
