Germany’s Premiere signed an agreement to use SES Astra’s Entavio digital satellite platform, the first pay-TV client for the service, SES Astra announced April 19.
"The agreement with Premiere is a major step forward for Entavio and gives us the critical mass for the upcoming market start of our new satellite connection," Ferdinand Kayser, president and CEO of SES Astra, said in a statement.
"Entavio positions itself as an open and neutral technical satellite platform, which gives satellite households access to a whole range of digital TV programs and services and offers program operators access to those households."
The deal will allow new Premiere customers to receive Premiere programs via Entavio beginning on Sept. 1.
Financial details of the contract were not released.
