L3Harris Technologies announced Tuesday that it has named Samir Mehta as new president of its Communication Systems segment. Mehta succeeds Dana Mehnert, who is retiring after 38 years with L3Harris.

The Communication Systems segment includes satellite terminals. The segment deals with tactical and airborne radios, secure communications, night vision technology, and professional and public safety networks and products. Communication Systems logged about $1.1 billion in revenue in the third quarter of 2022

L3Harris said Mehta will be tasked with domestic and international growth and “enabling agility” to meet “customer demands and global threats.”

Mehta was most recently president of Advanced Structures with Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies subsidiary, leading the business for flight and aviation components for commercial and military customers.

“Sam is a tremendous leader with a passion for driving business results and mission-critical solutions that serve our nation and our allies,” said L3Harris CEO Christopher Kubasik. “His customer-first approach, operational discipline and experience leading global organizations uniquely positions him to deliver on our strategic priorities as a Trusted Disruptor within the defense industry.”
