In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) and mobility service provider Global Eagle has rebranded post-bankruptcy as Anuvu, the company announced May 25. The company filed for bankruptcy in July 2020, and exited the process in March of this year under the ownership of a group of its lenders.
All companies under the Global Eagle umbrella will be called Anuvu, apart from masFlight, NavAero, and Criterion.
Anuvu CEO Josh Marks said in the Tuesday announcement that the company recently divested non-mobility businesses to focus on mobility markets including airlines, cruise lines, yachts, energy transportation, and government.
“As one company aligned around passenger entertainment and connectivity, we introduce you to Anuvu, our take on ‘a new view,’” Marks said. “This is more than a name change; our new brand and fresh visual identity highlight the innovative perspective we deliver to the mobility markets we serve. We continue to invest in technology that meets our customers’ performance and value requirements today, while providing a future roadmap with curated content, cloud-based content operations, and multi-platform broadband satellite networks.”
There have been a lot of shake ups and consolidation in the satellite service provider landscape recently. In the IFC arena, Intelsat acquired the Commercial Aviation business of Gogo. In addition, Viasat acquired remote energy service provider RigNet, and Speedcast restructured through Chapter 11. In the maritime space, Marlink recently closed its acquisition of ITC Global.
