Measat is expanding its satellite network in partnership with Datacom and ST Engineering iDirect to improve broadband access in Malaysia, the companies announced Tuesday. This expansion comes after Arianespace launched the Measat-3d satellite on June 22.

Measat uses iDirect’s Evolution platform to deliver services, and said the upgrade will expand delivery of consumer and enterprise broadband services for farms, community Wi-Fi broadband for rural underserved regions, cellular backhaul to MNOs, government and land and maritime mobility services in the future. Measat said it will mark a “tenfold increase” in satellite broadband capacity and deliver speeds up to 100 Mbps.

Regional service integrator Datacom will carry out the upgrade, activation, and support of the network.

“The quality of service capabilities within the platform allow us to differentiate and manage different service level agreements and services for our customers, no matter how simple or complex their needs may be,” said Jeevan Rao, associate vice president of Network Engineering & Operations for Measat. “With the launch of Measat-3d, we want this level of performance to continue. With the Evolution platform, we are confident that our network will go from strength to strength as we grow our CONNECTme broadband customer base.”

Separately, Measat recently appointed Ganendra Selvaraj as its new chief commercial officer and Jeevan Rao, as its new associate vice president of Network Engineering & Operations. Measat announced the appointments July 8.
