[Via Satellite 08-17-2015] Meosat has announced its O3b Networks satellite communications system is live and operational in Southern Iraq. O3b established a multi-year agreement with the company in April this year.
Meosat provides network infrastructure for remote oil and gas fields in Southern Iraq. The company’s solution combines O3b satellite backbone with Redline Communications’ Virtual Fiber point-to-point and point-to-multipoint industrial wireless backhaul systems.
Energy operators have the opportunity to test the performance of the service at Meosat’s Network Operations Center (NOC) in Basra Industrial Community. According to Meosat, operators have confirmed the use of latency-sensitive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software as well as performed live video conferencing with zero delays.
“For the first time in history in Iraq, Internet with 140 ms steady round-trip latency can be experienced live, with no downtime. The result for operators is significantly enhanced operational efficiency, cost savings, enablement of cloud-sensitive applications, and a seamless user experience,” said Michael A. Iwanow, CEO of Meosat.
