[Via Satellite 02-23-2015] ADS on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense through the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Tailored Logistics Support (TLS) program has ordered $7.6 million of Exelis satellite products for the U.S. Army. Exelis is delivering antennas and ground station satellite hubs, as well as providing training and installation services for the Global Network on the Move-Active Distribution (GNOMAD) system.

The U.S. Army and the Department of Homeland Security have deployed GNOMAD, using an open system architecture requiring low profile antennas for domestic emergency response missions. The recent award supplies satellite gear for undisclosed worldwide deployments.

Exelis aims to complete deliveries for this contract by March 2015. The company provides communications systems for a variety of armored combat vehicles, commercial SUVs, and military platforms for GNOMAD. As part of the contract, Exelis is also providing the ability to leverage commercial Ku-band satellite services and will offer X-band services on the Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) constellation once certified.
