PRESS RELEASES
NEW YORK, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Michelle Obama, wife of the presumptive
Democratic party Presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, was today's featured

channel (XM 156), kicking off The Gayle King Show's week of live broadcasts
direct from the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. King's
interview with Michelle Obama took place just hours before her opening night
address to the Democratic Convention, where her husband will become the next
Democratic presidential nominee. Selected excerpts from the interview are
provided below.

Response to questions about her nerves in advance of this evening's
speech:
"What I try to take in to every speech is 'just be yourself.' And that's
easy to do. As long as I don't have to be anybody other than Michelle Obama,
I figure I know me better than anybody. And I can do that pretty well."
On when she knew Sen. Joe Biden had been selected as Senator Obama's Vice
Presidential pick:
"I knew before you knew, [Gayle] ... I knew before you did. But that's
all I'll say. But people ask, did I play a role? Absolutely not ... I always
tell him, 'This is your choice. You will be the president of the United
States and you've got to have somebody that you can trust, that you think will
have your back, that believes in you.' I give the general advice. Is the
person a good man?"
On her daughters' reaction to Senator Obama's Vice Presidential selection:
"When I told the girls who the choice was ... I said, 'It's this man named
Senator Biden.' And Malia, our oldest said, 'Well is he nice?' And we said,
'Yes, he's a very nice man. I met his family and he believes in family and he
works hard,' and then she said 'Is he smart?' and I said 'He's very smart.'
She was like, 'Well if he's a nice man and he's smart then it sounds like a
good decision."
On her husband:
"The one thing that I can tell people is, Barack has not disappointed me
once in the 20 years or more that I've known him. Not once. And that's the
only reason why I can be sitting here."
Note to media: Interview audio available upon request.
The Gayle King Show will broadcast live from the Denver all week,
providing listeners with front-row access to this historic political event and
interviews with a mix of celebrities and political players, including producer
and Black Eyed Peas front-man will.i.am, Rep. James Clyburn (SC), MSNBC's
Rachel Maddow, and political strategist Donna Brazile, among others.
Live broadcasts of The Gayle King Show will air on XM's "Oprah & Friends"
channel at 2pm ET the week of August 25, with encores airing throughout the
day. Gayle King's interview with Michelle Obama, as well as other King
interviews during the Democratic Convention week, will also air on XM's
presidential election news channel "POTUS '08" (XM 130). As previously
announced, POTUS '08 will offer gavel-to-gavel coverage of the 2008 Democratic
National Convention, plus news and interviews from POTUS anchors and reporters
on-site.
