MDA Provides ESA with Radar Data Solution

[Satellite Today 09-24-08] MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA) signed a contract valued at $4 million Canadian dollars ($3.8 million) with the European Space Agency (ESA) to provide the data and information processing solution for ESA’s next synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite, MDA announced Sept. 24.
The MDA system will process raw SAR data from the Sentinel-1 satellite to extract information specific to a wide variety of applications such as in crises and emergencies associated with natural, technological and humanitarian disasters.
Sentinel-1 is expected to be launched in 2011.
