ATK Suborbital Rocket Explodes After Liftoff

[Satellite Today 08-22-08] An Alliant Tech Systems (ATK) suborbital rocket carrying two NASA hypersonic experiments exploded shortly after liftoff from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on Aug. 22.
According to NASA, the rocket was carrying an experiment testing temperature and pressure during hypersonic flight as well as a new design for delivering astronauts or equipment through the atmosphere on Earth and Mars.
NASA said it is very disappointed in the failure and is assembling an investigation team with ATK.
